The MathU CSI Project is an initiative which enables companies to meaningfully invest in the future of the youth by advancing education in less fortunate areas. The initiative gives school children access to a mobile device preloaded with the MathU Infinity application, this application has all the required content to pass mathematics and physical science. The integrated MathU elements combine to form a world-class educational tool which students can use to learn mathematics and physical science at their own pace, at home and at school.
The project has been specifically designed to meet Africa’s unique geographical and intermittent internet connectivity challenges. The app has split the functionality to allow learners to access their exercises and assessments of the MathU Infinity platform with no data connectivity and thus ensuring constant access to work.
Students get the following tools:

A Mobile device
Each student added to the CSI program will receive an approved Android device.
App and Content
Each device is preloaded with the MathU Infinity App and all the needed content required for Math and Science. This content is located on the device and is accessible offline.
Solar Charger
To ensure the student does not fall behind or be hindered by electricity constraints each one will receive a solar charger.
SIM card
Each device is allocated a SIM card, this will allow the student to receive and use data for the concept videos and Connect To Tutor functions.
Connect To Tutor
With the device and SIM allocation the student can now enjoy the online functionality. Each CSI Student will receive access to the online tutoring function. This will allow them to be helped by highly skilled educators from any where by a click of a button.
MathU starter pack
Each CSI student will receive a MathU branded starter pack containing all the necessary items to set them up for their academic journey.
Sponsor functionality and access:
Dashboard Data
Each student enrolled will be added to the relevant dashboard group. This allows access to the sponsoring entity to monitor the students progress and see how well they are doing and how much effort they are putting towards their goal. As the dashboard is a live environment, tracking and reporting can happen at any time.

Sponsor functionality and access
MDM (Mobile Device Management)
A device management system allows the admin/entity to allow and deactivate the device functions. By using a MDM, MathU can ensure the devices are use only as intended and manage the data usage. Students who preform well can have access to more functions as incentive. The MDM also shows where the devices are and when last they have been used.

Another Success Story

Sbonelo Gama
One student deserves special mention, Sbonelo Gama, Sbonelo was part of another one of MathU’s successful CSI projects. Sbonelo won the subject award for Technical Mathematics in KwaZulu-Natal in 2021, scoring an amazing 93% average after using the MathU application for only a few months. Sbonelo managed to improve his marks from 78% all the way to his amazing achievement. Sbonelo was selected for Toyota’s Future of Manufacturing program which is a full scholarship to help pave the way to his bright future.
Sbonelo did not have it easy growing up, living on his own, fending for himself, and getting himself through school. The addition of MathU in his life has meant that he has been able to steer himself in a new and better direction.

Student Testimonials
“I’m here to testify about how much the MathU app helped me to prepare for my final year exam.
I was struggling with mathematics since the beginning of Grade 10 due to the lost time in Grade 9 because of the pandemic. The MathU device helped cover all the topics I didn’t grasp and I managed to improve my results above 50%. I believe if the sponsorship continues I will have the opportunity to score even better than my previous mark.”
“MathU app helped me a lot. Schoolwork comes as a challenge to most students especially when you don’t have any resources to help you. So with MathU, you get help for free with tutorial videos where they briefly explain how to tackle a problem you are facing.”
”The interesting part is that the app has exercises and assessments which you can do at home as practice while completing your work if you have a problem or don’t understand you can ask a question and you’ll get your answers from your ticket section(Ask A Tutor), that was my favourite part of the app, including video memorandums. Getting the app made my life and teachers’ life better of which I knew every topic we were going to do.”
